Process and Innovation Management (PhD)

The objective of the course is to expand and deepen theoretical knowledge and practical methods for improving conditions for conducting business activities within organizations. The course content also supports the development of students' creative approaches. In each thematic area, emphasis is placed on integrating theoretical and practical concepts, starting with the identification of business needs and their detailed analysis, followed by process and organizational changes, and innovation management in response to identified issues within organizations. The teaching assumes the use of standard modeling methods, procedures, tools, and data analytics. 

Modeling and simulation (Master)

The aim of the course is to get familiar with analytical and design models of business processes and their simulation. Moreover the course will provide basic detail insights into process modelling with the use of several diagrams like BPD, methodologies like Aris, languages like UML, and notations like BPMN 2.0, IDEF, EPC and Petri nets. Further, the students will be informed about the principles of economic systems modeling technique using software agents. The lectures will be focused on the practical use of software simulation framework MAREA, which was developed in cooperation with Silesian University in Opava and Danish company REA Technology, Copenhagen. Another used tools will be BIMP, Signavio and AnyLogic.

Business Process Management (Master)

The aim of the course is to introduce to students some basic notions from process management area, practical use of BPMN notation for designing as-is and to-be process models, and Business Process Management (BPM) life cycle. SW tools like Signavio, Appromore and Disco as a Process mining support are used in exercices. 

Managerial Economics (Master)

The aim of the course is to come out from the knowledge of common business processes and to learn how to describe them, to numerate and to measure their performance by using financial and non-financial indicators, and to use modern management methods. The subject should lead the students to the use of practical analysis in the budgeting of company, to the rating of investment projects and assesment of innovations designs. 

Information Systems (Bachelor)

The aim of the course is to introduce to students the information process (data/information/knowledge), the task of information system (IS) for the desicion support of companies, the technologies of IS development, their architectures, lifecycle and last but not least their quality and security. Practical part of exercises is covered by a designing of a project implementation plan with elementary artefacts following the RUP methodology. 

Business Economics (Bachelor)

The aim of the course is to increase and develop the general level of economic education, knowledge and methodological and practical skills of students in business practice.
